DUI Diversion Program
In Oregon, some defendants qualify for a DUI diversion program that focuses more on recovery than on criminal punishment. In order to be eligible for a diversion program, you must meet a number of requirements, including:
- You must plead guilty or no contest to the charge
- Your DUI incident cannot have caused an injury
- You have not been convicted of a DUII or have participated in a diversion or similar type program in the last 15 years
- You must not have a commercial driver's license (CDL)
Is A Diversion Program Right For You?
You should consult with a knowledgeable defense lawyer before agreeing to enter into a diversion program. If you participate in the diversion program, the arrest will stay on your record. If the evidence against you is weak, fighting the charges may help you obtain a better result than the diversion program would offer. In some cases, challenging DUI evidence can get the case thrown out altogether.
As an experienced DUI defense lawyer, I can help you explore all of the legal options available to you. I will craft a legal strategy suited to the unique circumstances of your case.
